Our background spans both sides of the project: building and renovating properties, then owning and operating them for the long term. That experience has shaped a practical approach to construction focused on schedule, durability, cost, and how a building performs after the job is done.
Much of our work has been in multifamily rehabilitation, where we've worked across nearly every part of a building, from foundations and envelopes to mechanical systems and interiors. Today, we bring that experience to ground-up construction in Alaska and the Mountain West.
THE TEAM
Dave Velasquez
Owner, General Contractor
Dave Velasquez has spent his career building in Alaska.
He began working in construction in 2009, gaining experience in the field before moving into supervision, project management, real estate development, and eventually ownership of Figure 9 Construction.
Over the years, Dave has overseen work across single-family, multifamily, and commercial properties, including major rehabilitations of more than ten multistory apartment buildings and the conversion of a three-story commercial building to residential use. His experience covers the full building, from grading and foundations through structure, envelope, building systems, interiors, and closeout.
Owning and operating multifamily real estate gave him another perspective on the work. He has lived with the decisions made during construction: what holds up, what becomes a maintenance problem, and where saving money during a build can cost considerably more later.
Today, Dave leads Figure 9's construction and development work in Alaska and the Mountain West, bringing seventeen years of cold-climate building experience to each project.
Jordan Bird
Project Management
Jordan works across project management, operations, and communications for Figure 9, helping keep the work behind each project organized and moving. Her role spans project coordination, scheduling, documentation, subcontractor administration, permitting and licensing, and the systems that connect field work with the broader business.
With a background in design and creative direction, she also leads Figure 9’s brand and communications work, bringing the same attention to detail to how projects are documented and presented as she does to how they’re managed.

How We Build
Building in Alaska teaches you to plan early.
Short seasons, freezing ground, long supply lines, and limited labor don't leave much room to solve problems late. We plan around weathertight dates, procurement, sequencing, and the decisions that can move a schedule months before work reaches the field.
We bring the same approach to every Figure 9 project: understand the building, plan for the conditions, and make decisions with both construction and long-term ownership in mind.
